The warmth and the satisfaction of finding a family

In our quest to finding who we are and where we come from, we have come across some of the most amazing people we have discovered brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, mothers, fathers and friends. For some of us who did not even know what having a brother or sister felt like could not be any happier!
I now get to call over 100 people my brothers and sisters and yes we may just share the same surname but it’s more than that, it is this immediate connection you feel when you meet someone who shares the same lineage as you and the ability to call someone ngo bhuti or usisi…. trust me it is the greatest feeling ever. A total stranger becomes a shoulder to cry on an ear that is always willing to listen to all you sad and sometimes joyful stories.
I have come to discover who I am by hanging out with the most amazing people on earth I don’t have to look up to strangers or find role models with people I know nothing about….. I now have role models that I rub shoulders with on a day to day basis I found people who inspire, motivate me to be the best that I could be and the best part they are holding my hand the entire time...  My msenti brothers and sisters are there when the world sees nothing and they share all the glorious moments when I accomplish some of the world greatest feet’s…. I could go on and on about how amazing of a feeling it is to find a complete stranger and end up being the closest family you could ever have.

Yes all we share is a surname but trust me its more than that it’s this unknown power that comes with sharing the same blood line and knowing that you have a brother or sister that makes everything seem ok. I may not know who I am and where I come from but I do know that someday, somehow my life was engraved in the msenti lineage for a reason. And that’s why we have decided to find out where we come from and why are we the people that we are today… because behind every building is a blue print and to know why the building is still standing you need to know the blue prints and that’s who we are we are just a house standing with no knowledge of what happened for us to be still standing and before we fall apart we need to find our blue prints(the things and people that made us the msenti that we are today)

from minority to majority

It has always been a puzzle, that wherever we go as the Msentis it has always been only you that has this Surname, that when you introduce yourself to people, everybody starts saying how much they don't know it. In every school we go to, every workplace you've ever been, every church or any other community gatherings, it would only be you, if it happens that there is any other Msenti there, they would only be from your very own family, your sister, your brother, your parents, your grand parents, your cousin, your aunt or your uncle etc. and no one from the other Msenti families, but only you. Why? was the question most of us would ask ourselves of.

When elders in the Msenti family realised that youngsters were loosing touch of their culture and who they were, they made means to rectify this, by embarking on a journey to re-unite the family, re-gather the missing information of our origin. So much work has been done, but very little effort has been put into ensuring that this informations flows through to the entire Msenti clan and most of all to the future of the Msenti clan (the younger generation)

The inquisitiveness of the younger generation has put so much pressure to the elders, such that they found it so hard to keep up, there are so many things that were realised to have been unknown, no one could sing our praises in full (Izithakazelo), no one could give us a clear picture of who we are as a Msenti clan. No one is to be blamed about this, cause efforts were put into ensuring generations get informed, but there was just not much to go on.

Social networks such as facebook, twitter, whatsapp, etc has played a vital role in bridging this gab, but there is still so much knowledge lacking, since the more knowledgable and older people of our clan don't really use these social networks. Many family events, get to gethers and meetings have been held in various parts of the country as means of re-uniting this clan.

Below are some of the events held so far and the brothers and sisters we've come to know, love and cherish...
There are still so many questions that have not been answered, and that is why we started this blog

Who are we?

In the 21st century we have discovered that we need to know where we come from in order to know where we are going (cliché, I know but it’s the truth). Have you ever tried finishing something without knowing where it all started? .....

Well that’s the problem the “Msenti clan” is faced with in this day and age we are all trying to explain who we are without knowing where we come from, thus most of us don’t even know who we really are!… so join us in “the journey of the Zaca clan”, as we try to uncover our past, celebrate the present and prepare for what the future holds for us

First step we need to complete the missing pieces of  our family history.  Be it you are Zaca, Jaca, Msenti, Khethaphela, Nomafu, Nzaca ,Malimela, Nomafu, etc as long as you come from the Ngcanga lineage join along and help us and the future generation to discover who we are by uncovering the past.
